Tweed

Tweed

Another variation of twill, constructed using thick carded yarns that gives a coarse rough handle. Modern tweeds have evolved with artisans mixing yarns such as worsted and silk into the design to give a lighter, softer handle.

Tweed patterns are amongst the most numerous on the planet. Scottish landowners and clans would often choose a distinctive pattern for their member’s to wear as a form of recognition.
